Call me a cynic but as the build up to the General Election rolls on I trust less and less the claims coming from the major parties.

Time after time we are faced by what I would describe as career politicians seeking power and personal prestige.

The Government of the day are continually attributing the need for austerity measures on the Financial Crisis as if it was some form of uncontrollable airborne virus.

I would submit the financial crisis was attributable to the Government of the day and the opposition failing in their duty of good governance to be aware of or the ability to understand what was going on in the financial markets.

Throughout my lifetime through times good and bad it seems the principle of British Politics revolves around the two party principle whereby the ruling party claim for success and blame failure on the previous ruling party whilst abdicating from all responsibility when in opposition.

We are coming to the end of the current LibCon coalition with Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg announcing in the early stages of the campaign what he would do with Labour or what he would do with the Conservatives. A perfect demonstration of a career politician being prepared to jump into bed with whichever party gains a majority, perhaps someone should explain this is a General Election and not a Wife Swopping Party.

In the meantime Prime Minister David Cameron blames some of the woes within the NHS on an increasing aged population which intrigues me when a Government obsessed with statistics fails to appreciate that someone like me born in 1946 has given 69 years notice of my intention to survive. How much more notice do they need?

The same argument applies to the shortage of school places.

Historically this Country has maintained a record of births, deaths and marriages and if a Government cannot plan around this information what chance have we got that they can understand the Financial Markets.

Our Politicians got us into the current mess and the Conservative answer is to declare war on those receiving welfare benefits, the greater majority of whom claim out of necessity due to circumstances which are the consequence of poor governance from those at the so called top.

In a year when we are supposed to be commemorating 700 years of the signing of the Magna Carter and 650 years for the birth of Democracy it implies the principles of both are acceptable and working for the benefit of all.

Nothing could be further from the truth as the basic theme of both is born out of the principle of the privileged ruling the common man.

From 1365 to 1928 there were various qualifications which classified the population and their right to vote.

It was not until 1928 when the Equal Franchise Act of 1928 was passed that women over 21 were able to vote and women finally achieved the same voting rights as men. This act increased the number of women eligible to vote to 15 million.

This was just 87 years ago so come on Ladies use your right to vote.

The concept of the privileged classes ruling the common man remains true to this day when political aspirations are dependent on sufficient funding and as a cynic I say “you get nothing for nothing in this day and age”.

It is time to use your vote to cut out the political back scratching concept, vote for the smaller parties and let’s have a true democracy with all politicians working for the whole of the Country on the basis of actually representing you.

Chaos or true Democracy, with 650 seats in the House surely they can reach a consensus on most things as most of it comes down to having an understanding of the subject matter and the common sense to reach an unbiased conclusion.

Please!!! Not the same old same old for another five years and on that matter it is long overdue that the electorate should have the right to sack their MP if he or she is failing to represent them and the basis on which they were elected, a broken promise should be a broken contract.

Use your right to vote and use your right to expect what you are voting for.
